**My Experience with IGNOU – Journey from Still to Stand** Born in a Sindhi family, after completing Senior Secondary in Science from a reputed convent school in Jaipur, the question before me was—“What Next?”. At an age when students choose clear career paths, I was still at a turning point. It was IGNOU that illuminated my path, and I decided to pursue graduation along with a professional, employment-oriented course. I chose the Diploma in Tourism Studies (DTS), inspired by my elder sister. At that time, tourism education was rare, and IGNOU’s nominal fees and simple, enriched study material made it ideal for a middle-class student like me. With the blessings of God and my mother, I completed DTS in December 1997. In 1998, the Rajasthan Government announced vacancies for Assistant Tourist Officer, and I was among the two selected candidates. This became possible with the support of IGNOU Jaipur, especially Dr. Mamta Bhatia. At just 21, I began my career. I later completed Masters in Tourism (MTM), PGJMC, and am currently pursuing MARD from IGNOU. IGNOU taught me discipline, focus, and the value of opportunities. For me, IGNOU means—Incredible, Good Giving, Noble, Outstanding, Optimistic, Unique University. I sincerely thank IGNOU for helping me rise from “Still to Stand.”
